Applicants from the Republic of Serbia must submit their Project Proposals under this Public Call exclusively in electronic form, no later than September 25, 2026, at 10:00 CET, by completing the project application through the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia Project Submission Portal.

PROGRAM INFORMATION: The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia has launched a Public Call for the submission of project proposals under the Joint Research Program of Scientists from the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China (hereinafter: the Program).
The objectives of the Program are to enhance scientific excellence and the relevance of research in the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China by fostering links between researchers from the two countries through joint projects carried out in their respective countries and abroad; to develop new knowledge and technologies; to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer; and to strengthen international cooperation between research organisations, thereby increasing their visibility and supporting their development.
The Program enables researchers to define their own research agendas, form teams, and collaborate with relevant scientific research organisations in the Republic of Serbia, the People’s Republic of China, and around the world.
The Program is of public interest to the Republic of Serbia and is planned and implemented in accordance with the Law on the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and other regulations governing scientific research and innovation activities.
The Program supports fundamental and applied research in the following scientific fields:
- Natural Sciences and Mathematics;
- Engineering and Technology;
- Biotechnical Sciences;
- Biomedical Sciences;
- Artificial Intelligence.
The Program is intended for scientists and researchers employed by accredited research organisations in the Republic of Serbia and research organisations in the People’s Republic of China, participating as Project Leaders or Project Participants. The project consortium must include at least one research organisation from the Republic of Serbia and one research organisation from the People’s Republic of China.
The project team consists of two groups: the first includes researchers from the Republic of Serbia and is led by a Principal Investigator from the Republic of Serbia, while the second includes researchers from the People’s Republic of China and is led by a Principal Investigator from the People’s Republic of China. The Serbian group must have at least 3 and no more than 9 members.
Project Proposals must be submitted on time and in accordance with the application requirements set out in both countries: applicants from the Republic of Serbia must submit their applications to the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, while applicants from the People’s Republic of China must submit their applications to the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
The maximum project duration is 3 years (36 months).
The total budget of the Program is EUR 4,000,000.
The total budget consists of EUR 2,000,000 funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and EUR 2,000,000 funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
The maximum total budget per Project is EUR 400,000.
The maximum budget per Project to be funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia is EUR 200,000. The maximum budget per Project funded in the People’s Republic of China is EUR 200,000.
