Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain (BC) are two of the most important concepts in the technological development of society. Every day, a large amount of digital data is created and stored, through the internet interactions, social networks, e-commerce, e-services, in healthcare, education, the use of internet devices, and at the same time mechanisms for their processing are developed, which is actually artificial intelligence. On the other hand, since the emergence of bitcoin, a cryptocurrency based on BC technology, this technology has found its application in all areas of society beside the financial domain. The AI4TrustBC project combines these two key concepts by applying standard and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) methods to develop trustworthy blockchain (BC) technologies.

AI and BC technologies are recognized as areas of highest research importance because of their potential to respond to a range of societal needs and help develop new and more efficient economic paradigms. The essential importance of the project for Serbia is to open space for further research activities and applications of BC technology and AI. The international dimension of project implementation includes new contributions to the synergy of AI and BC technology on the one hand, and the affirmation of the Serbian research potential on the other.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: The AI4TrustBC project combines artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain (BC) using standard and advanced artificial intelligence methods to develop trustworthy blockchain (BC) technologies.

METHODOLOGY: This project will use AI techniques which enable database mining, machine learning, AI algorithms, and it will also develop methods and techniques for protection of data privacy.

EXPECTED RESULTS: The expected results include the improvement of the elements of BC technology by applying AI methods; it is also expected that certain applications of BC technology should improve the basis for AI, and provide new models for privacy protection.
