Acting Director of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Daria Kisić, together with members of the Fund’s Board of Directors, met with a Chinese delegation from Chongqing Province to discuss the deepening of strategic cooperation between the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and the Chinese province.
The meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Science Fund’s Board of Directors, Dr. Ivica Đalović, as well as Board members Prof. Dr. Bojan Tubić, Prof. Dr. Vladislav Volarević, and Prof. Dr. Goran Lalić, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Popović.
The objective of the meeting was to further strengthen strategic cooperation between the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and representatives of Chongqing Province in the fields of agriculture and biotechnology, technology transfer, and, with particular focus, joint development in aerospace technologies, innovation, and talent exchange. The guests presented potential areas for future collaboration and announced plans for expanding joint grant schemes and programmes, alongside a more intensive exchange of visits and researchers. They also highlighted new initiatives to be developed in cooperation with the Chongqing Research Institute of the Harbin Institute of Technology.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Daria Kisić presented the Science Fund’s ongoing activities, emphasizing in particular the importance of advancing scientific research and strengthening the capacities of scientists and researchers working on practical solutions to local-level challenges.
The Chair of the Board of Directors of the Science Fund, Dr. Ivica Đalović, noted that the Fund supports a wide range of programmes designed to address various societal challenges and needs, with special emphasis on programmes that promote technological development, advanced and innovative ideas, human capital development, research, scientific infrastructure development, integration into international scientific networks, cooperation between science and industry, and other strategically and socially significant areas.
Prof. Dr. Vladimir Popović highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, and numerous institutions from the People’s Republic of China, covering a broad range of fields, including the automotive industry, intelligent and information technologies, artificial intelligence, new materials, as well as space and aerospace technologies.
