Scientific Council of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia Constituted for Its Third Term

The inaugural session of the Scientific Council of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, in its third term, was held at the premises of the Science Fund.

The session was attended by Academician Bela Balint, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, along with representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, including Professor Aleksandra Šuvaković, PhD, State Secretary; Ana Marinković, Acting Assistant Minister for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Technological Development; Jovan Milić, Special Advisor to the Minister and Acting Head of Cabinet; Professor Nenad Filipović, PhD, Acting Director of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia; and the members of the newly appointed Scientific Council.

Following the adoption of the agenda and the formal constitution of the Scientific Council, the Council unanimously elected its Chair and Deputy Chair. Professor Dragan Stanić, PhD, representative of the social sciences and humanities from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad, was elected Chair of the Scientific Council. Dr Branislav Simonović, representative of the natural and mathematical sciences from the Institute of General and Physical Chemistry in Belgrade, was elected Deputy Chair.

The session was opened by Academician Bela Balint, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, who welcomed the new members of the Scientific Council and wished them success in their work. He emphasized the importance of their expertise and experience in ensuring that the Science Fund’s programs remain relevant, innovative, and focused on addressing key societal and technological challenges.

The attendees were also addressed by Professor Dragan Stanić, Chair of the Scientific Council, and Dr Branislav Simonović, Deputy Chair.

Following the opening remarks, Professor Nenad Filipović, PhD, Acting Director of the Science Fund, presented an overview of the Fund’s activities, including ongoing programs, new initiatives scheduled to be launched in 2025, the Fund’s achievements to date, and planned activities for the upcoming period.
