The constitutive session of the Supervisory Board of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia in its third term was held on 28 August 2025 at the premises of the Science Fund.
The session was attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Professor Aleksandra Šuvaković, PhD; the Acting Director of the Science Fund, Professor Nenad Filipović, PhD; as well as the newly appointed members of the Supervisory Board.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia appointed Dr Ivica Đalović, Scientific Advisor at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Institute of National Importance for the Republic of Serbia (Novi Sad), as Chair of the Supervisory Board. Professor Bojan Tubić, PhD, Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Novi Sad, was appointed Deputy Chair. The members of the new Supervisory Board are Professor Vladislav Volarević, PhD (Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac), Professor Goran Lalić, PhD (Faculty of Social Sciences, Belgrade), and Assistant Professor Vuk Radojević, PhD (Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad).
State Secretary Professor Šuvaković welcomed the attendees on behalf of herself and the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Academician Bela Balint. She emphasized that the Ministry considers the Science Fund to be of strategic importance for the development of science in Serbia and noted that a new Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development is currently being prepared.
The Chair of the Supervisory Board, Dr Ivica Đalović, expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Minister Academician Bela Balint, and State Secretary Professor Šuvaković for recognizing the strategic importance of the Science Fund and for placing trust in the newly appointed members. He stressed that the new composition will continue dedicated efforts to strengthen science in Serbia and will work to justify the confidence placed in the Science Fund as an institution.
The members were also addressed by the Acting Director of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, Professor Nenad Filipović, PhD, who presented the Fund’s past achievements as well as its plans for the upcoming period regarding the support of science in Serbia through research funding programs.
The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia extends its best wishes for success to the new members of the Supervisory Board in their continued joint work toward the development and advancement of science in Serbia.
